What about a comments card? Most people seem motivated to give feedback only
when fed up about something. So those services getting least negative remarks
are doing fine! Any services getting praise are probably brilliant.
OK so it's a bit negative :-) but at least you would actually get feedback,
which is what you want. Pre-paid , pre-addressed card dished out in volumes
to each GP (not just a supply per practice, got to be lots for each doctor)
The hospital trust have something similar in Southampton which seems to be
used a fair bit. Only where practices have plenty lying about though.
And we do send nice comments as well as the rest. Eg if a patient says the
nurses were really nice on the ward, or the doctor was helpful in clinic, I
send a card to say so. It goes to a manager somewhere, but the message gets
passed on to the staff and I get a note back from the manager to say she told
the staff in question what was said, and they were very pleased (or whatever!
) :-)
