[log in to unmask])will send you gratis a CDROM with description of almost
all known models (there is one curious omission, ?Ricoh) and their prices and
tech. specs. On a much smaller scale the 'October' PCW (came out in August --
if they go on advancing publication date slowly, will they eventually get 13
issues into a year and thus make even more money?) reviews a a dozen or so in
some depth.
Everyone says wait for prices to come down. At the moment it seems prices
haven't come down so much as what last year bought you 480 x XX pixels or less
may this year buy you a megapixel job. Whether the price curve has yet
intersected the minimum quality level one needs is the big question. There are
numerous variables to consider, like macro ability, true (optical not digital)
zoom and so on. The PCW article is quite a useful descriptor of aspects one
needs to consider.
