I liked the news coverage - used phrases such as 'coughs, colds, sore
throats and other *trivial* illnesses' :-)

I take your point - but I also think there is some real truth in that
statement. When patients say to me ' I never come to the doctor' I
cant help but reply either 'That is why you are so well' - or - 'How
very wise'

Wouldnt it be great - now we say - well you have a virus and I cant make
you better but you will get better - we could substitute it with - yes
you have a bacterial infection and I cant make you better and you wont
get better ;-)
One way to cut the consultation rates I spose ;-)
