In quite a high proportion of my badly controlled/been on everything
hypertensives I suddenly remember to ask in detail about their alcohol intake,
and an alarming number are having an alarming amount. Including the little old
ladies! (In their tea or wherever)
So then I stop bothering so much about their BP and concentrate on asking how
many bottles of whisky per week they've got down to. It can open up some sad
stories too....well, I've got to drink because...
If no luck in reducing, at least I can dish out some thiamine (which one
alcoholic came back to tell me was the only *** tablet that had ever done him
any good. Stopped his arm going numb!)
