While I would never wish to be treated as an employee, I think this is a
very good point. Many self employed business people can reduce their
workload if it gets too much. The commonest reason for not doing this is
money. GPs at present are unable to do this because of the national
shortage of new GPs - which is clearly the government's responsibility.
Most of us are therefore stressed out by our obligations to our patients
(which are government, HA and GMC imposed) and the lack of any way in which
to control our workload without leaving significant numbers of patients
totally without care.
