Confidentiality of notes :
On both System 5 and System 6000 it is possible to make notes visible to
named GP only or "all GPs"
On System 5 you put a $ or a $$ after the note entry, on System 6000 you
have a rather more elegant "security" drop down menu choice.
Both systems protect the note for both viewing on screen, and printing in a
patient report. However, if the printout is by a user who is allowed to
view the entry then it appears, otherwise it is recorded as "Administration
details" only, with no indication of meaning.
Despite these options, I would not tend to record something highly
confidential on either computer or paper, but make sure that the patient was
aware that they would need to tell any subsequent GP/Doctor themselves. We
use the feature a bit for staff.
