Now you have me wondering who the "senior lurker" is ? Time to declare
yourself.
The Minquiers ( It,s a British Admiralty chart Graham!) is certainly no
place to be in bad weather. There are some spectacular rocks above the
water. However the channel is well marked, regularly used by the ferries to
St. Malo, and it's a doddle with GPS navigation. We were by a beacon called
Le Coq Recife doing well with the mackerel line when we met up with the
dolphins.
Getting out of St. Malo at night by the north west channel is a different
matter. Hair raising, but just like medical politics you have to go with the
tide!

p.s. I gather there is a pod of dolphins off Lyme Regis, and they've been
there most of the summer often close inshore, probably because of large
mackerel shoals in Lyme Bay this year.
