In HSC 1998/139 the phrase
"- avoid major new IT investment in advance of further guidance which
will follow publication of the IM & T strategy for the NHS"
appears as one of the instructions to HAs.
THe question is of course what constitutes major, and new.
N&E Devon HA readong of it appears to be that any spending at all is
ruled out, no PCs added to existing networks, no upgrades of operating
systems, no installation of ISDN. Nothing.
As usual, I think they are wrong, but has anyone had any sensible
indication of what the authros meant by major and new?
