This is of course one of the disadvantages of a format like pdf which
depends on the file being OK for it to be readable.
An alternative such as plain text, or somewhat formatted text like html
will survive small amounts of damage without even slowing down the
reader.
THe COIN site also, as far as I can see, breaks one of the rules of web
desing in that it is not evident how one can get a message to the
webmaster to tell him that this file is damaged.
Does anyone have the ability to identify and contact the COINmaster?
And could they pass on this message please.
I am aware of the advantags of pdf, and I think for this purpose they
are of negative value, in fact I think pdf sucks, but I can see the
attraction if one locks a document such as a medical record and can
then just drop it into a dorectory which amounts to the patient record.
Even there, we are told that an audit trail is better.
