They can be very difficult but I think they are an essential
part of the totality of care. It is a good time to clear up any
unanswered questions, it establishes a continuity to the relationship
and enables me to give the patient permission to see me at a later
stage. It also sometimes gives the bereaved an opportunity to question
the medical care and for any misunderstandings to be cleared up.
If you don't do one does it appear that you don't care?
