Within a PCG the expected requirement should be for one PC per GP, and
one PC per member of staff working at the busiest time in each location
providing direct patient contact.
THat is, by the time they are networked about £1k per person.
Compared to the cost of employing somebody for 5 years that is small,
and the difference that access to the business information makes is
tantamount to wasting a considerable proportion of the cost of
employment for people who are not thus enabled.
On top of this basic kit issue of course comes the need to provide
connections at home for all partners, and to provide handheld devices
fro those who need them.
Equiping people to work off the city-wide network is sufficiently
expensive that one should seek to do business by means not involving
travel...
Therefore the business team in the admin centres need to be set up to
the same scale, once the clinical areas are equipped.
