>seniority pay
This is an area I feel highly aggrieved about ..
I entered general practice later than some, having worked in school
health, community clinics and family planning fields after hospital
posts. At no time during this was I less than 6/10 time. The
experience gained was family and community medicine and has time and
again proved useful in my current post as full time GP.
I do not get seniority pay because I have not been a _GP_ for 7 years.
A partner who has not had the wide ranging experience, who works half
time for 7 years with maternity leave - hence my 4 years full time is
still more experience - would get seniority pay.
A *time-served* system for monetary awards does not recognise either
experience or commitment.
