My DIvision doesn't do social events.
Actually, next year we plan to return a neighbouring division's
invitation to look at roses, by showing off the roses belonging to the
treasurer of the LMC...but that is a first at least since I got drafted
to it.
The reason for bringing the LMC under the umbrella of the BMA Division
is that the LMC has no trade union privileges whereas the DIvision
does. There is substantial protection available for such things as
working to rule, striking and so on.
Next month we have Dr Jane Richards talking about Quality and health
care, the follwing meeting is a pair of solicitors and an accountant
talking about how they went from single-handed and 3-4-5-6 handed
practices into a Firm of 60 partners, 200 total staff serving an area
the size of Exeter, how they feel about it and how they make it
work...social? No!
I suppose there was a social element to the meeting in the Internet
Cafe, maybe.
