The BMA is working for the introduction of a proper occupational health
scheme extending to GPs and allother NHS employees.
Locally, as Chairman of the Division here I am very keen on bringing
home to employers or _managers in a vastly unequal
contractual/statutory relationship_ which amounts to the same thing,
any consequences in terms of adverse health or reduced quality of life
for doctors.
One of the duties of employers is to provide suitable tools to do the
job, the emotional tolls of dealing with reasonable patient demand for
investigations to be done in sensible time are well known, and I
encourage any patient who feels underprovided for to complain about it
to the provider - the chairman of the HA.
It is probably sensible for GPs who find themselves stretched by
inadequate resources to write stating this, as otherwise chairdroids
may try to say they didn't know about it.
Chairdroids of course can complain to the Minister, who has the
ultimate recourse of complaining to the citizens.
