News from our local lab is that RACAL network is down nationwide, after
a period of significant problems with it.
RACAL for anyone who has forgotten it is a network the NHS decided
would be the nationwide network for the NHS.
It had a major crash when the badly thought out IoS Links systems were
roled out onto it, just as the Patients not Paper initiative made them
obsolete, and just before Caldicott criticised the amount of
identifiable patient information being transmitted.
Undaunted the NHS is pressing on with NHS Net which is another vastly
expnesive boondoggle at the taxpayers' expense administered by the
people and with the same management techniques as the Public Accounts
Ctee recently crapped upon from a great height.
NHSE response to such criticism? - delay publication of the NHS new
IM&T strategy still further to distance it from such criticism, why one
might ask would this be necessary if for instance the new strategy
contained suggestions of a resolve toward a new way of working -
listening to clinicians saying what they needed last year to make it
possible to deliver care of the standard desired by all of us.
It is hard to take this organisation seriously, although I am well
aware that there are isolated nuggest of brilliance shining in the mire.
