<< awaiting a new government committed as was tha last one to
spreading inequity and conflict in the name of governing and the Market.>>
Hear hear! And one of the saddest things I ever saw in my life was the
sight of the dear old NHS over the last eight years adopting starkly
competitive practices and relatively rigid buyer/seller splits----just when
the business world had finally decided that there were better ways of
making a buck than shooting all the competitors. IN A WORD---CO-OPERATION!
NETWORKS! also. And...TEAMWORKING! Etc.
But no way are PCGs going to have enough people on board with enough moxie
to make those sort of changes. Because it is just too big a change for
many. How many active contributors are on GP-UK? And even among us
fairly radical progressive experienced and knowledgeable GPs not all of us
will support taking a flame thrower to the SFA and all that crap.
I don't mean to sound defeatist or suchlike but I heard all the promises in
1990 and even more when FH finally got going over here and the system was
just too hide-bound and mediaeval to work properly. We as FHers had to
keep paper records of all transactions; didn't matter if we had the
computer data backed up umpteen times, we still had to have dozens of box
files filling the shelves, constituting a fire hazard no doubt. With
attitudes like that, what chance of the sort of radical change we need and
Midge is advancing?
Is there another way? (I heard that mother muttering "The Third Way" as he
read it----We know where you live)
There are umpteen other ways but not within the regulation-infested
hidebound NHS as we know it. So----finish the sentence. Please.
