<<The British GP is completely uninterested in pay rises and therefor is
either
a. not prepared to act
b. unable to act
when continually short-changed by government.>>
1. Some feel guilty about earning more than their patients.
2. Some feel they are well paid.
3. Many cannot shake off centuries of "vocational" indoctrination and
medical school macho stuff and so are unable to raise any serious concerns
in their noddles about pay.
4. Some are disgusted but haven't the balls to leave and do something else.
5. And some get sucked into the medical politician circle and decide that
the only way to negotiate on pay is via the current half-assed system which
is, at present, a total waste of time, money and effort.
Me? I haven't written a script, sat in a surgery or done on-call for over a
year. Changes your perspective that does---which is probably why so few
who take a year's sabbatical ever go back to full-time GP, something like
10% I think. Shows you there is life beyond the NHS.
