We have recently been assigned 10 patients from a local nursing home that
stopped payment of a retainer fee to the GPs involved. Their action, very
reasonably was to relinquish care of a proportion of these patients.
We are none too happy at these allocations particularly as our list is
presently 'closed'
1. How long must we keep these patients before advising the Health
Authority that we wish to relinquish responsibility?
2. What is the 'official' position now with regard visiting patients at
nursing homes who are fit to attend the surgery but for
whom the nursing home management refuses to provide the means to
attend the surgery thus 'forcing' a visit
We are also exploring the possibility of 'non core payments' as clearly this
is an issue that will not go away.
All advice gratefully received. Thankyou
Roger Leary
