Oh dear rant coming on!
Is there some overriding reason why doctors and nurses should not be free to
use their skills in whatever organisation they choose? Why does the NHS have
a monopoly. I hear the oft quoted argument that the country has invested in
their training and they should repay this to the NHS. Really? This does not
seem to apply to other areas of higher education. Odd that. Crap conditions,
poor pay, worse management. Real incentive to join and stay in. As George
says even a beaten dog will eventually leave. Nurse recruitment in free
fall, lack of GPs, need for another 1000 docs per year and it will be 10
years before they become useful if they don't see the light too.
Apologies for that, I feel better anyway!
