Why do we do post-natal visits?

Hi Katie,
This is one area where we have STOPPED doing visits altogether - even with the
blessing of one of my female partners who was initially against the concept.
Like you, it was a matter of making an appointment to see them at home. What
we do now is ask them to come and see us - at day 7 - 12, telling them that
we'll do the 10-day check on baby. Works fine - operating for the last 3+
years - everyone very happy, and the mums are generally pleased to get out
with dad to show baby off - they don't have to wait in for them. Even those
who have had a C/S come down - we actually say to them, that if they are unfit
we will ome to them. Mind you it's always amazed me how everyone thinks that
anyone who has had a C/S should be back, on their feet and looking after a
baby immdiately - try telling this to a bloke post hernia/appendix!
As I say, the above works with absolutely NO problems - try it and save time.
Paul
