and staff time?
If the IT enthusiasts are paid for their hobby out of the same finite
pool from which I am paid then I will be just a teeny-weeny bit upset.
But thanks for proving my point about the "time, trouble and expense" of
keeping computer records, presumably in comparison with paper records.<
This prompts me to 3 comments:
1. Enjoying the way in which one works does not make it into a hobby.
I like the flexibility the computerised system gives me to look at data
in different ways.
I feel pleased when I have produced a report which is concise and
readable with graphics - this would be difficult without a PC.
I enjoy producing patient newsletters in an attractive format - on PC.
BUT it is still work, not a hobby.
2. The HA's idea of contributing to cost ...
For example, I am responsible for all the accounts and payroll within
the practice. The HA will not reimburse ANY of the cost of software or
maintenance of accounts packages.
3. Imagine keeping the accounts and payroll in paper format (which our
previous financial partner did)...
Setting up the system has taken time,
but running the system now set will be 100% more efficient,
less likely to lose track of the pennies,
safer for staff expecting to be paid,
easier to produce meaningful information for business planning and
reviewing achievements ...
Now compare that with keeping EMRs for patients ...
Setting systems takes time
Running the system will be 100% more efficient
less likely to lose track of the patients(+/- their illness)
safer for patients expecting to be treated
easier to produce meaningful information for PCG planning and reviewing
success ....
