And of course paying GPs for high quality data is the sort of thing that DIN
have been doing for a while.
Not saying it is my idea, however, it may be an opportune moment to
negotiate over it's value, rather than hand it over gratis.
AFAIK it is not a requirement that GPs keep computerised notes, and those
that take the time and trouble (and expense) to do so should be paid for
their work. The "independant" review body says that my workload has not
changed. It has, this is new work that GPs have not previously been doing,
and I will be holding out for a proper fee. :-)
If the data is important enough to have at PCG level, then we will see what
value is placed on it!

I keep hearing echoes of the past. Colin Waywell who worked for BMDS, our
supplier for the Micros for GP scheme, pointed this out about 15 years ago.
He said that what we needed to do was to sell our data to health authorities
who needed accurate data to plan for the future!! We had many problems with
BMDS but in retrospect Colin talked a lot of sense - unfortunately he was a
bit ahead of his time.
