Sorry to tax everyone's brains on a Friday afternoon but I wonder if any of
you could be so good as to provide any answers at all to the following
questions from your combined wealth of knowledge and experience.
I am doing some research (unpaid) for a colleague who is having difficulty
in finding out answers from the manufacturers due, we believe, to y2k
induced reticence. <g> Your assistance and experiences would be greatly
appreciated.
Can anyone confirm that there are only two manufacturers of insulin in the
world, Novo and Eli Lilley? If not who else is there?
Novo appear to be market leader with 70-75% of production. Does anyone know
if all of this is manufactured in their Denmark facility or do they have
other plants?
Does anyone know how many (approximately) diagnosed diabetics there are
globally?
Research to date seems to indicate a wide variation in the population of
individual countries suffering from diabetes as between 2 - 6%? Are there
any studies which indicate why this might be the case?
What is the shelf-life of insulin from date of manufacture?
Between what temperatures should insulin be stored?
If it is not stored between those temperatures how long is its shelf life then?
If you don't have any answers but know of any sources please advise me.
TIA
Graham
