IMO, If the Calpol/Galpseud/Simple Linctus is indicated you prescribe it.
If it isn't you don't. You are not obliged to prescribe to stock medicine
cupboards, only to treat.

Some free advice (not asked for, but anyway). The fastest ways of reducing a
drug budget are usually
1. Use of generics
2. Stepping down the dose of PPI's
3. Differentiating between asthma and COPD patients, identifying those COPD
patients for which inhaled steroids are making no difference and taking them
off them. (Hence spirometry).
Trying to do this quickly can have an adverse impact on the doctor/patient
relationship. Which is where the likes of me come into the picture - if you
are seen to be paying for outside advice, you deflect a lot of criticism
when taking that advice.
