The son of a friend (19 yrs, student at the American University Cairo)
was recently diagnosed as having LHON (Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuritis).
He had extensive scans etc. in Cairo and genetic studies at the Johns
Hopkins Baltimore. Seen umpteen opths and neuros. All agree the
diagnosis except one prof. of neurology in Cairo who suspects MS.
Anyway, they've been in touch with Susan Lightman at Morrefields who
recommended the Neuro-Ophthalmologist, Paul Riodan-Eva. This is being
arranged.
The question at the moment is to find some aids for him. He's got some
stuff from the States for help in studying.
He wants to know if there is anything that can help his walking, like
autofocus specs or binoculars?
Does anyone know of such things?
Thanks.
Ahmad
