I think there has been some information management going on.
When I needed to computerise a practice, fast, in 1992, the only
shareware software I could find was Paul Rubner's program, I didn't
have time to write my own (and hadn't studied it enough to do it well,
then, so I had to buy oine.
Now with Reuters having stuffed it, I am heading rapidly for running my
own again.
But I would like to see freely shared components being used by many
people to do comparable jobs in a compatible way.
I shall not weep for any of the existing suppliers, nor for the current
IT bunch in our HAs, for the most part.
