- I am not aware that this is legal
- It deprives the Treasury of tax revenue vital to the materialisation
of the 21bn vapourmoney ;-)......
Surely a better and more equitable way of raising revenue would be to remove
the now outdated concession that allows patients to receive all their
prescriptions free, simply because they have been found to have
myxoedema/diabetes etc.
There may have been a time when this group represented a large proportion of
our patients requiring long term therapy but this is clearly not the case
now. Many perfectly healthy (and wealthy) patients are quite amazed to
discover that HMG will subsidise their prescription costs in this way.
