If you don't pursue it, you end up with Burn OUT.
1900 Pts, 8 Surgeries a week, 2 half days a week.
Routine Appt available the next day.
When a Pt voices dissatisfaction, that I perceive to be unreasonable, I
simple say, "If you don't like the service I offer go and find your
self a GP who's service and accessibility is better."
I define how I want to work and the parameters that I find comfortable.
I rarely visit at home, and never visit children, I don't offer dental
treatment, be it analgesia or antibiotics, I don't do councelling, and
tell patients to self refer to Social Services if that is needed. I
always charge for non GMS services (Except to other Medics). I always
tell a patient if they have missused an emergency appointment.
Those patient's whose expectations are different go and register
elsewhere. My list has grown from nothing two and a half years ago to
1,900 now and still rising.
Life is wonderful and relatively Stress free. I content myself with
being the patient's GP with reponsibility for their health only. All
other matters I refer elsewere.
