Nice report, but virtual private networks seem to be something that
means different things to different people.
If you are calling for us to avoid subscribing to proprietary
technology which locks off groups of GPs from other groups, like
Healix, then yes, definitely avoid.
But I think connecting every outlet (formerly known as practices) of
the PCG by hardware networking running the technology of the internet
is a no lose move which we should be getting on with now...
- We have 100 something days to go...
- in any form it will be useful fro setting up and running the PCG,
indeed its payback time may have been reached before we start the
actual PCG going...
- if NHS Net is resurrected then the tech will transfer nicely to
that, and if it isn't then the solution can be left to run.
Again, calling for us to avoid commissioning software and PCG solutions
is sensible, but establishing the intranet for a PCG and including its
local HA and hospital in the extranet thereof is surely no longer
controversial?
