If the BFDA (DFI) can fight to improve our terms and conditions of
service, to preserve what we see as valuable, then I think we should
give it our wholehearted support.
Below is a paragraph from minutes of the last meeting:
"It was felt that the BMA perhaps failed to represent us because
they had combined clinical and political agendas, were not solely
concerned with GPs, and are involved with wider issues such as the
health of the nation etc.
Given this, there is a need for an organised representation of
GPs concerning their terms and conditions of service, and to separate
the political from the profesional representation. This organisation
would be the first to challenge the BMAs hold onto GP political
representation."
There is support for such a move, but it would need to be consolidated
to be effective.
Many have expressed their discontent here on gp-uk, in the news, and
probably withing their practices.
Lone voices are quickly seen as cranks.
If there is to be one voice then we have our chance now with BFDA, but
if not taken, as John says above, we only have ourselves to blame.
