Yes we should, but how long do you allow for your consultations?. I
usually say to the patient 'To me I do not think things are bad enough
for you to jump the queque but if you wish I will write to the
consultant and ask.' or I say 'write to the Consultant yourself and
tell him/her how much worse you are and how your life is affected.' I
usually do the latter when the patient is under the impression that the
consultant said the pt would be admitted within say a month from the
urgent waiting list.
