Worth MSU, urethral swab (chlamydia and usual organisms) and a quick PR to
check for prostatitis. May be worth USS of the scrotum to exclude tender
epididymal cysts, which tend to be self limiting, and, though they recur, do
tend to become less of a problem with time.
Treatment- doxycycline 200mg/day x10/7 or ofloxacin 400mg/day x5/7.If it
becomes a persisting problem, (sort of) empirical Rx with flurbiprofen (more
cyclooxygenase inhibition or some such) 100mg SR x 1/12 either works or gives
them a haematemesis to take their minds off their aching balls.
