KTs Guide to getting things done:
(such as writing a cheque)
1. Find chequebook (no, checked under sofa already, do they really look
like that after the washing machine?)
2. Find pen ..... pencil won't do, even if it is one with a rubber on
the end ..... fountain pen will look better .... oh, well, biro will do
... but it's red, can't write cheques in red ....felt tip... which
colour? green... yes, found pen :-)
3. Sit down (well, it might be a large cheque, should be sitting down.)
4. Think of a number.....
5. Add 2, double it, subtract 8, divide by 2, add 3, and there's the
amount
6. Now, what's the date .... look at computer... screen not on, where's
clock, oh, too complex, where's diary... in car, put on radio,, wait for
news, no they still don't give the date... make one up, at least the
month will be approximately right.
7. Sign! Always important this one, unless signature so short as to be
easily forged (that reminds me, must check daughter's homework diary,
haven't seen it for a while, should be signed weekly, is she forging my
signature?)
8. Envelope next... pass coffee pot... ok, look for envelope after
coffee
9. Doorbell, can son go out to play? suppose so, find son, coffee cold,
make another, telephone rings, old school friend, coffee cold again, 3rd
attempt (or is it 4th?) , sit down .... what *was* I doing before all
that?
10. Ah, yes, envelope found (will brown do?), address, where is red book
of addresses? found; where did that pen go? found; now, something
missing? .... no, surely not, ready to post... ah, yes, post... need
stamp .........

I think this is why I am less efficient than I'd like to be ;-)
