I'm sorry but I just don't want endless arguments, discussions, phone calls
etc etc with patients and their families - or even their solicitors - about
the non-provision of a service I am not ultimately responsible for not
providing because I do not control the purse strings. Unless, of course,
the PCGophiles can convince me that my funds will be unlimited. I am
old-fashioned enough to want to put the blame where it belongs and for my
patients not to be led astray to think rationing is my fault.
I cannot get excited about having the power of God-almighty in charge of a
PCG and deciding who shall have what treatment. I know fund-holders had a
lot of experience of that (Whoops....) but then I wasn't a fund-holder,
either.
PCGs play into the hands of HMG far more than fh did.
