Oxford Masters Programme in Evidence-Based Health Care
The University of Oxford is currently recruiting for it's 1998/99.
postgraduate programme on evidence-based health care. The
programme, which is coordinated by the Centre for Continuing
Professional Development and the Faculty of Clinical
Medicine, is open to professionals in the NHS and other
health-related settings.
Aims of the programme are to:
- gain an understanding of the principles of evidence-based health
care
- identify and critically appraise health research
- incorporate results of health research into day-to-day decision making
- learn how to teach others the priniciples and practice of EBHC
- obtain a working knowledge of research methodology and practice
- develop research skills which can be used to establish evidence
where it is not available or is of uncertain quality.
Structure
The Masters Programme has a layered approach with three related
courses - Certificate, Diploma, and MSc. The Postgraduate
Certificate can be taken alone, or as a pre-requisite for a
Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Science degree from
the University of Oxford.
Professionals can also apply for selected modules in order to address
specific learning needs.
Who can apply?
Professionals working in all areas of the health service, including
clinicians, other health professionals, managers, planners,
researchers and teachers. People who have completed a degree or
professional training course, who have at least five years
professional work experience in health care.
Fees and bursaries
The fees are ?2391 for each year of study.
Please note that financial support in the form of bursary
money is available from some Regional R&D Directorates.
