Ok people - how many have we got?
Probably best to reply with private emails to me - sorry for the
repetition.
I have done/am doing diabetes, palliative care and depression.
Perhaps a committment to three topics each (keep it wide)
You do not need to be an expert and errors are allowable :) - what do
you think of the idea of them being sent to me and then my forwarding
them to one other member of the team ie you, for comments before final
acceptance?
What I am keen on is the Resource section and also the BMJ/BJGP
references for a two year period. Can get off Medline quite easily -
and even read them! The _owner_ of each tutorial would be expected to
keep it updated with the latest references etc - I guess will have to
email to me and I will put up on web-site somewhere.
I will email you the format as I have planned it when you respond with
email (we could discuss the format at length - but we are GPs and would
never agree - so let's just get on with it and let personalisation take
place at the user end).
Some of you have already emailed me with various bits and pieces - I
need a few days to digest and reflect on the best way forwards. It was
my feeling that a standard format would be good - but I would not like
to lose out on the good stuff that is already about - having said that,
i probably haven't got them time to re-format stuff and certainly not to
put in the references.
Oh, actually i'll put my suggested format here....
TITLE
(I would suggest the nest 3 paragraphs as opening lines to serve as a
reminder to the facilitator/educator)
Identify registrar's needs and current level of information and
understanding.
Tailor tutorial to the above.
Formulate plan of action at end of tutorial to consolidate or further
the registrar's knowledge and skills.
Then perhaps some stuff on the issues around a subject, eg chronic
disease manaagement, the management of chnge, admin issues, ethics etc
ie those sort of hot things that the college examiners seem to like.
This should be the briefest of sketches - more as a thought provoker
than info provider.
Then some stuff on the subject itwself eg - facts about diabetes or
whatever - referenced if possible - amount of spoon feeding can vary
(not reallly important I think - but I tend to do a lot (?too much) of
it.
Then -
_Resources_ - websites, good articles, DTB/MEREC/WeMEREC, pt info/suport
groups, leaflets (users can add there own local resources), books
Then -
_Papers worth a look_ - list hot papers from last 2 years BMJ/BJG - can
add comments if wish - also acould add seminal papers
Then -
_References_ - from the main text on the subject
I am trying myself to build up a folder for each tutorial - with copies
of papers/article/useful adresses etc in it - I would envisage that
trainers could source things from the Resources/Useful papers/Refs
sections so that they were more readly accessible to registrars.
I will be answerering personal emails - shortly!
Cheers.
