The dismantling of the NHS is big bucks. Witness all the jostling for
position that is going on right now; pharmacists, supermarkets,
Medicentre, BUPA, trusts, nurses, big insurance companies,
pharmaceuticals, uncle Tom and all.
To understand the issues and dangers involved, one needs to understand
where all these people are coming from.
The agenda has been set, Mark. PCGs are the first tool in getting
that agenda to its logical conclusion.
Now: you can fight for any or all of the issues below:
1. Family doctors' pay and working conditions
2. Health care as a universal right not a commodity
3. Doctors setting the agenda
4. The higher principles of the NHS
5. The running down of national spending on health care
6. Doctors solidarity in the face of real threats to their
intellectual freedom
7. The higher principles of freedom of choice, freedom of
information, informed willingness to cooperate and allowing natural
synergies to bloom
Or:
Keel over and let it all happen whilst we spectate :-)
