This report makes clear the restrictions that apply to regsiters or other
patient-identifiabel data that is collected & used (abused) by the NHS.
District diabetic registers are opposed by the JCG on the hrounds that they
are unnecessary & insecure.
Interestingly in a recent practice study the vasrt majority of siabetic
patients were opposed to the sharing of data without their explicit consent.
This is a rinciple that underpins Caldicott & the Data Protection Act. I can
