We are sharing the following on outlook 98 in our practice on LAN.
1 Common contacts list
2 Rota (calendar on receptionists computer for holiday and the rota)
3 System 6000 discussion Netfolder between the doctors
To share a folder
Click folder eg master contacts list
File Share this folder then follow the dialog box to select all to share -
suggest everyone is author then everyone can update the list when it is
downloaded to all subscribers.
R mouse click the selected folder on the master contacts list and click
properties sharing and select how ofter to update and the size of the
update- make it at least 2MB.
That is it. Mail is sent to all subscribers asking them to share and they
should reply. Eventually they will get a copy of the master contacts but it
will not appear in the shortcuts column unless placed. Click view folder
list and you should see the new folder downloaded. This can take some time.
All updates to the folder are shared to all subscribers automatically and
come down as mail although not usually visable.
Users will have 2 contact folders: their own and the shared one. You can
rename the shortcut to something meaningful.
Netfolders must be installed on all machines from control panel add new
progs/outlook98 add components. This is not necessary for the above.
It is very easy to set up and works perfectly.

Subject: Outlook sharing
Hi all
Is anyone using Outlook 98 and sharing Contacts list across a network
without Exchange Server?
I am looking for a slick way to do this - I have a workaround but it is
a it of a pain.
Any hints?
BTW this is not my usual email address - replying privately should be ok
though cos I set it up with my usual address - but if doing this please
check to ensure it is to [log in to unmask]
Cheers :)
