Our workaround for the time being is to still the old Arnet board
system to access EMIS rather than network link to the EMIS server - ie
the EMIS server is not accessible via TCP/IP and exposed to outside
hackers. LV1 works perfectly without networking.
I personally believe the only safe method is have NHSnet access
controlled by a separate NT server to the one running your clinical
cost. This could then have 2 network cards - one to connect to NHSnet
type stuff and a second to communicate with your clinical system and
indeed the rest of your LAN.
I understand a solution like this is technically possible using a
firewall ( I am no expert in firewall at present - we all will need to
understand them to in the end to feel confident in security)
<< Obviously, I would love to be able to receive email on my own
desktop - but we don't think it's safe to allow connection to a
clinical system - even if the Code of Connection would allow it!
Any ideas, both technical and security?
