I am only confident diagnosing a pregnancy by VE when it is 8w plus, and
similarly the breast changes tend to come on after this too - therefore
the answer would be "no".
However, it is possible for pregnancies to have progressed further
without either loss of periods and /or the patient being aware.
It is also quite likely in an ill-informed, possible scared teenager
that she may hope the PC4 would work even later in pregnancy, and so
mislead you as to her dates/timings/risks.
BUT, a VE in a teenage girl is perhaps undefensibly intrusive without
extremely good reason - it's like punishing her for having sex/fun, and
guaranteed to stop her coming back to see you.
In general I am in favour of contraception being freely available, but I
believe we (or a suitably trained FP nurse) should also be freely
available alongside it.
