What absolute C**p!
You get a fee for signing a section paper no matter where it is signed-the
only difference being the amount-depending on whether you are Section 12
Approved or not.
In response to another reply, another doc cannot sign the section form
(assuming it is the normal Section 2 or 3) as it has to be a doc "with
previous knowledge of the patient" i e. the patients GP, as well as the
Section 12 Approved Dr, normally the psychiatrist, who forms one of the
necessary two medical recommendations to sign the form. Otherwise the
Section is illegal and the hospital managers will get their butts kicked (by
the Mental Health Commissioners) and the legal eagles will have a field day!
Echo previous comment-speak to your local medical secretary-this is in clear
breach of regulations.
A good starting point for this area is "Nigel Turner's Hyperguide to the
Mental Health Act"-www.hyperguide.co.UK/mha/
