HI Paul

What never, well hardly ever (HMS Pinnafore)! ;-)
>Even professional divers are
>no longer required
Woah. PADI and BSAC regs do now allow divers to dive with no CXR provided
that history and examination would indicate no resp problems.
However Professional or Commercial divers *do* require CXR insp and exp at
their first examination and only after that if clinically justified. (HSE
regs MA1 03.98 "The medical examination and assessment of divers" C4).
> yet some NHS trusts and education authorities are still
>requesting them.
On the one hand I agree in that it should be clinically related but where
the staff member comes from an area with a high incidence of TB perhaps CXR
screen justified? We regularly hear of doc or nurse with TB and the panic
which ensues with the patients. :-((
>I always refuse as even a small dose of radiation has some

>unnecessary hazard?? What possible justification is there?
And what about hosp being sued by patient for being exposed to TB from a
staff member?
