Graham,
Read the above with great interest. We are, across the pond, mostly
unacquainted with matters heraldic, so prior to submitting an American
modification more suitable for display upon these shores, I ask your
advice on the possible changes.
I would propose to replace HRH in the dexter position with President
William Jefferson Clinton; the sinister supporter is problematic; I
don't know how many women we can fit into the space available on the
field. Perhaps we can democratically choose a representative number from
the currently known candidates.
The motto "Id suge videque" is, I believe, quite appropriate to both the
US and the UK, although the College might wish to grant exceptional
permission for a derivation of our current national motto 'E Pluribus,
Unum' (Out of Many, One) to something like 'A Pluribus, Unum' (Into
Many, One).
I will, of course, defer to your expertise in this matter.
