Some months ago after a hip replacement I was having much trouble sleeping,
and the hypnotics on offer gave me only 3-4 hours sleep and then I was awake
again at 2 a.m. Then my wife discovered 'Night Nurse', on which I slept
excellently. Presuming the phenergan content to be responsible and having no
need for its constituents of Night Nurse, I obtained plain phenergan 20mg
OTC and combined this with a short-acting hypnotic, which again worked
excellently but left me rather dopy till midday next day, so I halved the
phenergan dose, and the resulting zopiclone or zolpidem + 10mg phenergan is
very satisfactory. Possibly, being a long way from infancy, I am more
sensitive to phenergan than a younger subject, but it certainly does work.
