Dear Colleagues,
This week in Cyberounds. Sorry for any cross-postings.
Nephrology:
Dr. Eli Friedman, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Medicine, SUNY, and
Chief, Renal Disease Division, has a well-deserved reputation for his
hard-nosed and often provocative analyses of data. In this month's
conference, Eli looks at the treatment options for the diabetic ESRD
patient. His conclusions about hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis may
surprise you. One AMA Category I CME credit.

Rheumatology:
The incidence of systemic sclerosis (SSc), also known as scleroderma, is
highest among women, particularly those in the late or post child bearing
age. Peter Barland, Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of
Medicine and Chief of Rheumatology, looks at two new hypotheses which may
help us understand the etiology of this autoimmune disease -- "You Can
Blame the Children or the Cytomegalovirus or Perhaps Both." One AMA
Category I CME credit.
