yipee! support at last for my view that 'clinical freedom' is a chimera hiding
a host of sins.

Agreed. This is the 'clinical freedom' bit everyone is getting so
upset about.
Two cardiac surgeons had the clinical freedom to botch up a load of
operations didn't they.
A GP had the clinical freedom to allegedly experiment on his patients
with raised lipids and I gather the GMC is investigating him.
I am not at all bothered by NICE. I welcome it. Anything to ease the
pain of having to face the decision to continue or cease
dubious treatments started by other doctors has to be good.
eg the current craze by a local hospital to prescribe omeprazole for
patients prescribed aspirin!
