Is there someone locally that is the 'consultant for enviromental control'
?
Derby has one of the local Rheumatologists, Greg Summers.
Health Authority should have a budget but the cost can be prohibative.
Making the switch needs expert technicians and these are costly.
A switch can be via a number of means. ie. head movement, breath
activation, voice, even eyes.
However if his head movement is so poor he will almost certainly be very
dysarthric, exhaust very easily, worse if supine and when tired will have
such poor function as to be unable to operate a switch to seek help.
I'm a clinical assistant at a neuro-rehab unit. Is there a local one?
ECR's a speciality!!!
Carol, the speech therapist is my font is this case.
Any other info let me know.
Regards,
John Charlton.

Does anybody know of a voice activated system that could operate a
telephone and
perhaps a computer ? This is for a patient who has almost no limb or head
movement due to MS. He needs to be able to communicate with his wife when
she is out of the house by telephone. It would also be good if he could
operate a computer for word processing, using the Internet etc.
