This is mis-information. X.400 will go the same way as Betamax and OS2 (Both of which were superior technologies that got overtaken) Later generations of Internet mail technologies will now doubt draw on some of the good bits of X.400 but that's it.

Somebody stated that X400 is taking over in the general use of e-mail
on the internet, and that in fact SMTP servers pass mail between
themselves using X400, therefore it is perfectly logical to use X400 in
the NHS Net.
Not a techie as far as I could see, and it sounds a bit suspect to me.
I know about RFC 822 because the messages bouncing keep referring to
it, but X400??
Can anyone authoritatively identify this as mis/information?
