Just tell them you are being paid by the hour and leave after the allotted
time. Your dispute is with the trust not the consultant. He might be
disciplined if he supports you against the trust. Are you sure you are
being paid for 3.5 hours and not 3hours. After discussion locally we
confirmed the time should also allow up to 40min total for travelling from
surgery to hospital. Are you also receiving superannuation on this post? A
lot of trusts try to get out of paying this. Clinical assistantships are
training posts and if you are now trained you should look to moving to
Hospital Practitioner grade. I believe that in one area all clinical
assistants resigned until taken back as practitioners. The trusts cannot
cope with assistants.
